Why do we care?
We see the value when males actively take care of themselves- the value at both the minute and large-scale, for mom, dad, brother, sister, partner, friend, workplace, and society.
We care for deep vitality. Most of us do. Most of us aspire to realize our full potential and that we are a small part of a greater whole- that is the human condition.
Self-care gets lost many times in the daily demands of life. For example, how long has it been since you took a moment to check in with yourself or were alone with your thoughts? Do you know what adds fuel to your tank or takes away from it? Chances are you don’t know or can’t remember...
When you mindfully take time to pay attention to yourself, not in a narcissistic way, but in a nurturing way, you help yourself. You become a better man and you bring that to your other relationships in life.
Wellness is personal and unique, and it begins deep within. It’s whatever makes you feel whole and full. It’s whatever makes you authentically yourself.
We take a holistic and integrative approach to health and well-being that touches upon the many dimensions of male wellness. We believe that wellness is the conscious effort of becoming aware of, and making the choices towards, a healthy and fulfilling life. This, in turn, leads to health and well-being.
We are more interested in the things that keep us healthy and well in the first place. We focus on upstream prevention with a strengths-based approach. That is, we move beyond a singular focus on what puts us at risk for not being well and instead focus on the multiple sources of support (i.e. protective factors) around males so that when times get hard, they have their strengths to rely on.
We also believe everyone benefits from the promotion of health and well-being. Our work has a trickle-down effect. That is, when we impact the health and well-being of males, we impact the health and well-being of those closest to him.
